Berann's American panoramas are among his most celebrated works. Commissioned by the U.S. National Park Service from the mid-1980s, he painted Yosemite, Yellowstone, Denali, and the North Cascades — sweeping vistas that became the definitive visual identity of America's great national parks. A continent-scale overview of North and Central America was published by Mairs Verlag around 1991.
