Italy was Berann's second-largest market after Switzerland. He painted the Dolomites, South Tyrol, Trentino, the Italian Lakes, and regions as far south as Naples and Sicily. Clients ranged from local tourism offices and the Cassa di Risparmio di Trento to publishers in Bolzano and Genoa. His Italian panoramas are distinguished by their warm Mediterranean light and the dramatic vertical relief of the Dolomite peaks.
